Do You See What I See (2019)

90.1cm x 122cm

Do You See What I See... we all see things in our own original way. This painting was completed after a trip to the old gold mining town of Hill End. Although these are not the colours you see when looking at the bush, I hope that through the use of colour my interpretation creates interest in the narrative as well as creating an emotional response from the viewer.

  • After completing a Fine Arts Degree at the National Art School in 2019, I decided to travel Australia in a caravan with my husband, two dogs and 20+ year cat Arthur.  When I’m not travelling, I live between Sydney and the South Coast of NSW. Most mornings I spend in local cafes drawing both people and interiors in my sketchbook. My chosen area of investigation is autobiographical and is based on my childhood and the historical domesticity role of the female. My use of bright pastel colours, such as pink identify with the female gender and domesticity. Currently my works are landscape in nature due to my travels.  I prefer to work in the now and either make sketches or paintings directly from the landscape I am surrounded by. Colour is my main priority when creating a work and I use this to convey my interpretation of the landscape or whatever else I see in front of me.

I have been a member of Art and Soul on the Northern Beaches as well as Jervis Bay and Basin Arts Inc. on the South Coast where I reside part time.
